After World War I, in just eight years, she alone traversed a vast part of the world—and she undoubtedly ranks among the greatest travelers of all time. During her journeys, she gathered an enormous amount of ethnological material, recorded her experiences in numerous books, and upon returning home, passed on her knowledge of foreign languages to the people of Celje. She died in 1950 in a small cottage in Pečovnik. At the Regional Museum in Celje, a permanent exhibition has been set up that presents her life and her journeys around the world. A life‑size statue was erected in 2009.
